Now, a graduate of Slim in 6, I needed a plan to move on and do something else. My coach kept talking about how great P90X was. I remember seeing all the infomercials and I read the website for all the information I could find on this workout. I just remember thinking, there is no way I could do the X. I see all this weight lifting, all these push-ups, and pull-ups. My god, I never could do a pull-up, why would I be able to do one now. Here I am, still out of shape- no way.
My coach kept saying, it can be done. You just do it at your own pace. I kept hearing this, and I so wanted to try it. I knew if she (my coach) could do it, so could I. So, I finally decided I was going to do it, I made the leap and ordered P90X, the home extreme workout! Immediately, the fear hit. My god, what did I do, how am I going to do this without falling flat on my face. I was so excited, yet so scared. I just talking to my friends on the message boards stating all my fears. I felt they were watching only to see me fall down, and hit hard.
My package finally came. It had 12 videos! It had a nutrition book and a another book with how to use the program. I felt like I had to study and learn everything before I could even start this. But, it was so worth it. The book stated the course for the next 90 days. The nutrition guide broke it down to exactly what I needed to eat. This wasn't going to be easy, but I was up for the challenge!
Day 1 - my first workout was to do Chest and Back. The entire workout was nothing but push-ups and pull-ups for almost an hour. My I thought I was going to die. Tony, the instructor, showed how to do modified pull-ups with a chair. At least with that, I could pull up a few times. Let's just say, I attempted all the different moves. The dive bomb push-up, made me just laugh.
After all that back ad chest work, it was time for Ab Ripper X. This was 15 minutes of intense ab work. Well, I may not have done every single rep of each move, but I did do some of each. I know that this tape will get me to those abs, I just need to do what Tony says.
But, in the end after all that hard work, Tony said the best thing - JUST DO YOUR BEST AND FORGET THE REST! That is the current motto of everything I do. I know that day, I did my best. I also knew that day that I could only go up from there.
I knew tomorrow, I would be sore- but I also knew that I would show up. I couldn't wait to see what day 2 would bring.
Now, you just need to come back tomorrow to find out more.
