About Me

My photo
A little about me. In my normal life, I am a civil engineer who sits behind a desk everyday. I got married to my wonderful husband in 2006. Since meeting him and our many days of eating out and less working out, my weight started to creep up. In August 2007 my girlfriend wanted to get back in shape after her pregnancy. She talked me into running weekly with her. I agreed, and this began my plan to get my body back in shape. I wanted to add some additional workouts to my run, so I pulled out my old Slim in 6 videos. At the same time, I re-found the online message boards at Beachbody where I meet a lot of great people who kept me committed to my fitness goals. I also found a great coach who was there everyday to help me stay on track! Today, I'm still working to sculpt my body and get it into the best shape ever. As I have progressed through my body's transition, I decided to become an Independent Beachbody Coach to help others reach their fitness goals! I realized it was easier then I thought, and I really believe others can change their lives too!

How do I see myself?

I was having this conversation with a friend of mine today.  It's funny, I look in the mirror and see thighs and a butt with a little to much "fat" there for my liking.  I see my arms and just want them to be toned a little more.  I think the Linda Hamilton look is what was brought up.  Toned, yet not overly done.  But, when I wear a tank top, I want to see the definition.  Currently, I just see thin arms, and yes, I have guns when I flex, but I want more.   And, those stubborn abs, when will they really pop?

So, each day, I still find "faults" in my looks.  What drives this?  All the perfect people in the magazines?  Maybe?  I just know I work hard and I really know what I want.  And, the change is coming, yet it comes so slow sometimes.

But, what is strange, I can get out of the shower and see all my problem areas.  I get disappointed at where I am compared to where I want to be.  Yet, I eventually put on my workout gear, and yes, its small and tight.  I like to see my abs when I workout, and I want to see my arms.  So, I do not hide them.  To me, seeing and focusing on them helps me imagine them working!  But, as I workout, I do catch my reflection in the patio door.  As I look at that imagine in the window, I sometimes can not recognize that person.  I do see the toned muscles, I do see the totally lean person!  I often do a double take and say, wow, I have come so far!

I know a lot of us go through this, and I am saying this to let you know - you are not alone.  We all find faults, we all want more.  It takes time to get what you want, so you can not be distracted by the things you are still achieving for.  We all need to stop and pay attention to where we have come and the advances we did make.  I post my pictures to show my progress, also others typically have nice comments on how far I came.  They see things that I am to critical to see.  My final piece of advice, is do take your before and after pictures.  Keep updating them.  If you do not feel you are seeing changes, send them to your coach.  I know a lot of time, I can point out changes you are blind to.  Sending me your pictures does not mean I will post them, it doesn't mean I will laugh,...  Its only to help you see the progress.  And, if you have made progress, sharing is caring!  We all get motivation from seeing the success stories!  So, do give permission to share your photos with the team!

Now, let's all go for it.  Let's all focus on our achievements and keep our goals in mind.  Having a goal gives you something to work towards!  But, it does not mean you are allowed to quit or give up because your problem areas are not changing as quickly as you want!
