If you have a belly button ring, its possible that it can get caught on the rug! I feel my belly button ring constantly getting caught on the rug. Ok, maybe that means I am not doing perfect form, and my stomach eventually collapses to the floor! But, I have to laugh when I feel my belly button ring tug the rug.
But, seriously, push-ups! Chalean Extreme has a few. P90X has a ton. Slim in 6 has them! They are in all the workouts because they work! Push-ups are extremely effective moves. Do not just skip through that portion of a workout because they are to tough.
When you are in the "plank" positing. The starting position of a push-up, you are already working your core. Try holding a plank for about a minute and tell me if you do not start feeling that in your abs! So, just holding a plank is a good way to help strengthen you!
If you find that you can not do a push-up from your toes, then make sure you start from your knees! Its ok, to start there and build up. I say, what you do is start every workout with trying to do a single push-up from your toe! You never know, maybe one day you will be able to do it! If its to much and you can not do it, immediately go to your toes and push them out!
Also, remember if you do start on your toes and you can nail out 5, maybe if you go to your toes you can get a few more reps in! This only helps get you stronger. Then one day, you will be doing perfect push-ups and you will be doing so many reps, you will be jumping for joy on knowing where you started.
As you do the programs like P90X and Chalean Extreme, you will notice they do different moves. Like keeping your elbows close to your body, or keeping you hands out wide. Many, like in the X, they get really crazy and add in some leg work, like one leg in the air. Every-time you modify the push-up, you are working a slightly different muscle.
I have to say, I started P90X and hated the push-ups/pull-ups, but it really has helped tone me up over time! I may not be perfect all the time. I may struggle, I may have to go to my knees to get the reps in, or I may close and have my stomach hit the floor. Am I upset? NO. Why, because I know I am trying, I am doing my best! And, I know I am getting stronger all over, and I will come back and do one more on my toes, or one more crazy kind of push-up Tony can throw at me. I also know, my arms, stomach,.... will thank me in return by giving me a nice toned and shapely body!
So, don't wimp out and skip the push-ups! Do your best and forget the rest!
