About Me

My photo
A little about me. In my normal life, I am a civil engineer who sits behind a desk everyday. I got married to my wonderful husband in 2006. Since meeting him and our many days of eating out and less working out, my weight started to creep up. In August 2007 my girlfriend wanted to get back in shape after her pregnancy. She talked me into running weekly with her. I agreed, and this began my plan to get my body back in shape. I wanted to add some additional workouts to my run, so I pulled out my old Slim in 6 videos. At the same time, I re-found the online message boards at Beachbody where I meet a lot of great people who kept me committed to my fitness goals. I also found a great coach who was there everyday to help me stay on track! Today, I'm still working to sculpt my body and get it into the best shape ever. As I have progressed through my body's transition, I decided to become an Independent Beachbody Coach to help others reach their fitness goals! I realized it was easier then I thought, and I really believe others can change their lives too!

A little Fountain of Youth

Ok, so I have been struggling all weekend with a pinched nerve or something that was affecting my shoulder/neck/back area.  It was quite painful, so I was like a lot of people, I found an excuse to not workout.

But, I refused to do that today!  It was Monday, I determined I was going to wake up at 5 am and do something to get me back on the morning track.  I was still feeling terrible in the shoulder and back and thought, no way will I be able to lift without pain!  So, as I laid in bed trying to convenience myself to get up and not skip a workout, it suddenly came to me- YOGA!

I thought why not do a little yoga to stretch out my soreness.  It would be  perfect way to workout and help me recover from that nagging pain in my shoulder/neck.

I thought what yoga tapes do I have.  I had P90X, Yoga X- no way, I hate that workout.  It's sooo long, 90 minutes!  Then I have the Ho Ala ke Kino, hmm that is a good short yoga workout.  Then I have Yoga Booty Ballet, but was really in the mood for some Tony!  After the last few months with Chalean Extreme, I needed my Tony fix.  The it hit me- Fountain of Youth from Tony's One on One!

That turned out to be the perfect workout.  Its a total of 48 minutes, but really only 40 minutes of yoga.  So, if you are like me and hate yoga X, get this one to sub-in!  Its the perfect length!

Tony goes through the standard moves, warrior, chair, downward dogs,...  At first I was a little sleepy and had a hard time getting in the mood.  But, that only took a few down dogs to get me warmed up.

Then I quickly realized, I really needed that as a good stretch.  Chalean must be working my legs and building those muscles, because boy were they tight!

Now, its going on 6 pm and I'm glad to say, that really helped!  For the first day in a few days, I got through without a bottle of Advil to kill the tension/pain in my shoulder!  I actually feel a heck of a lot better.

I'm thinking tomorrow may just need to be another day of Fountain of Youth!  It really was a good warm up for the week, a good stretch, and a good way to recovery from whatever injury I did!

So, this serves as a reminder- if you injured yourself lately and need a little break, maybe put in some yoga!  I recommend Fountain of Youth for a good, fairly quick workout!
