About Me

A little about me. In my normal life, I am a civil engineer who sits behind a desk everyday. I got married to my wonderful husband in 2006. Since meeting him and our many days of eating out and less working out, my weight started to creep up. In August 2007 my girlfriend wanted to get back in shape after her pregnancy. She talked me into running weekly with her. I agreed, and this began my plan to get my body back in shape. I wanted to add some additional workouts to my run, so I pulled out my old Slim in 6 videos. At the same time, I re-found the online message boards at Beachbody where I meet a lot of great people who kept me committed to my fitness goals. I also found a great coach who was there everyday to help me stay on track! Today, I'm still working to sculpt my body and get it into the best shape ever. As I have progressed through my body's transition, I decided to become an Independent Beachbody Coach to help others reach their fitness goals! I realized it was easier then I thought, and I really believe others can change their lives too!

Watching your abs!

Today doing Plyometrics, I was really paying attention to my abs.  I was thinking throughout my workout that when I really focus on form and focus on my abs, I really notice them and how they improve my workout.
It's hard to explain, but I believe the abs have a big part in all the moves throughout a workout.  Think about it, in a push-up the abs hold your midsection up.  During Turbo Jam and Hip Hop Abs, the more you focus on the moves and using your abs in the proper form, the more you seem to get out of the workout.  In plyometrics, using your abs aids in almost all the jumps.  When you do resistance work, holding in and paying attention to the abs really helps your lifting and form.  This, then helps prevent injury.
The more I do my workouts and the more I focus on my abs during the workout, the more I believe that this will help me achieve my overall goal of one day having  a six pack!
My daily reminder to everyone reading this- during your next workout, think about your abs and how they are being used for every move you are doing?  Are you using the proper form for you abs during each and every move?

I agree, Heather. For the past month or so, I've been really trying to focus on working my abs. It does help!

And the abs are the last place where we see progress, too, but it's finally happening for me.

hurray!

Girl, we all want to look like you and your abs. It is sad that they are always the last to appear.

But, I think focusing on them can only help that come just a little sooner!

It really does take focus on the core, but it really ups the intensity. So, keep the focus!
