About Me

My photo
A little about me. In my normal life, I am a civil engineer who sits behind a desk everyday. I got married to my wonderful husband in 2006. Since meeting him and our many days of eating out and less working out, my weight started to creep up. In August 2007 my girlfriend wanted to get back in shape after her pregnancy. She talked me into running weekly with her. I agreed, and this began my plan to get my body back in shape. I wanted to add some additional workouts to my run, so I pulled out my old Slim in 6 videos. At the same time, I re-found the online message boards at Beachbody where I meet a lot of great people who kept me committed to my fitness goals. I also found a great coach who was there everyday to help me stay on track! Today, I'm still working to sculpt my body and get it into the best shape ever. As I have progressed through my body's transition, I decided to become an Independent Beachbody Coach to help others reach their fitness goals! I realized it was easier then I thought, and I really believe others can change their lives too!

Who doesn't like Turbo Jam?

Apparently - our neighbors!

In the middle of my Turbo Jam workout, Fat Blaster with all my high intensity turbos, I got this knock on my door.  Kind of annoyed to be interrupted during my awesome workout, I went and answered it.  Who did I find, my neighbor from downstairs.  Standing in the door in my workout gear, dripping with sweat and wearing the weighted hand gloves, she stares me down.  Then goes on to say in her nice annoyed voice, I assume you are working out, but you are jumping around way to much.  It sounds like our roof is going to fall in!  She proceeds to tell me she has been kind not to mention this to me before, but would like me to stop!  Now, standing there listening to her, I was like saying to myself - You kidding me right!  I'm working out, its an hour of my day for me!  It's an important part of life to workout and stay fit!  I hear ya lady, but you know you bought a condo on the middle floor and have people living upstairs from you.  My mind is so racing with thoughts, I miss half her "concerns."  But, I kindly said to her, I am sorry and will try to be "quieter" from now on!  I then proceeded to to go back to my workout.  I was very cautious to not jump and pound as much as possible.  I tell ya, it took my high intensity turbos down a huge notch!  It really ruined my night.  Here I am, just really blasting through and sweating hard and I get this huge rush and then BANG! you need to stop.  My mood went from Yeah baby I'm really bringing it! to this bites! in 30 seconds.  I knew really should do the right thing and tone it down a notch!

For tonight I decided I would be nice and tone down the second half of the my workout, but come the tomorrow, I will just have to Bring It and hope that she sits there quietly listening to her roof fall in!  I hope maybe one day she will decide, if I can't beat them, maybe I need to join her and make some noise too!  I really do feel bad, and if anyone has thoughts on making life easier for a downstairs neighbor, please email me!  Otherwise, all I can say is you have to wait an hour and all will be quite as I lay down to tired to move!  Boy is she going to hate when I do my new Tony's One on One - I think Volume 1 is more Plyometrics!  Oh baby, you think the roof is caving in with Chalene, wait until I do more jump training with Tony! Then the whole building will be falling!

Okay, hon, as a city dweller YES, I have had this problem. Several things:

1. I place the mat on the floor and jump on the mat for the JUMPY and STOMPY parts of the workout. It helps a lot.

You could even do it on a carpet and then put the mat.

2. You have to be conscientious of the time. If you're doing it during NORMAL HOURS, not past the time when people are winding down, so around BEFORE 9pm, YOU"RE OKAY!!! IT'S LIFE and GIRL HAS GOT TO BRING IT!

3. You can work with your neighbor and tell her you need to bring it and is there a time frame that works for her.

My friend had to work out a schedule with her DRUMMER NEIGHBOR. It was driving her nuts, so they agreed that he could drum between 5 and 8.

I hope this helps. And if she's still a bitch, then let HER deal with it!

BRING IT, baby!

Thanks Barbie

I have carpet and considered a mat, but hmmm? I only workout during reasonable hours, usually right when I get home from work/before dinner. Never past 9! Or before 8 am on the weekends. During the week, there isn't a lot of flexibility in my schedule?

A girl needs to do what a girl needs to do? And, she will need to deal with it for an hour a day!

To bad she's not into fitness or she'd understand!
