About Me

A little about me. In my normal life, I am a civil engineer who sits behind a desk everyday. I got married to my wonderful husband in 2006. Since meeting him and our many days of eating out and less working out, my weight started to creep up. In August 2007 my girlfriend wanted to get back in shape after her pregnancy. She talked me into running weekly with her. I agreed, and this began my plan to get my body back in shape. I wanted to add some additional workouts to my run, so I pulled out my old Slim in 6 videos. At the same time, I re-found the online message boards at Beachbody where I meet a lot of great people who kept me committed to my fitness goals. I also found a great coach who was there everyday to help me stay on track! Today, I'm still working to sculpt my body and get it into the best shape ever. As I have progressed through my body's transition, I decided to become an Independent Beachbody Coach to help others reach their fitness goals! I realized it was easier then I thought, and I really believe others can change their lives too!

Ab Ripper X!

I know I said I would type up some tips to help get you through these P90X workouts.  Especially if your a beginner.  Then Bang, work took over my life last week.  Besides getting up at 5 to workout, then working 12+ hours a day, I pretty much only had the energy to come home and sleep.  So, I will continue to post my tips as quickly as I can.

Today, let's talk about Ab Ripper X.  It's 25 reps of a ton of sit-ups.  What is it like a million crunches,... by the time your done?  Ok, maybe not that many, but it sure is a lot!

Here are a few tips that I have to help build you up to the day you can do every single one of those reps.

1.  Remove your shoes!  Yup, every little extra pound may help you get through the reps.

2.  I'd rather see you do 10 of each move then do 25 of only the first 2 before you are done.  So, find a number that works for you so you can get through all the moves.  If its 8, then do that.  But, each week, make it a goal to do more.  Remember, you need to continue to push yourself.  Don't give up because you want to, give up because you have too!

3. Separate the workout from your main workout.  I do my main workout in the morning, but don't have time to do the abs work until evening when I'm done with work.  It brings me back fresh, and its only 15 minutes so it can be squeezed in when I can!  But, I still get it done.

4.  Break it up even more.  Maybe do them during commercial breaks.  Maybe each commercial break do 2 sets of moves.  Once you are done with your movie, you will feel better knowing your abs are all tight!  Plus, this keeps the snacking away for those awful commercial breaks.  No time to run to the kitchen, you need to push out a few more reps!

5.  Hey in no time, you will know all the moves.  Do them at your own pace without the video.  Remember, you can go slower then Tony and the Gang.  Getting through the workout is more important then racing to the end.  So, if you want to do them with the video, just remember, there is always a pause button.  Take a break, and come back and finish them!

Ok, so that is 5 quick tips to help get you through ab ripper X!  We all love it and hate it.  But, you want that flat tummy, keep at it.  And, as Tony says, remember you do not need to do this workout everyday!  These muscles need a break too!
