According to Tony Horton, the trainer, this is the "mother of all workouts". And, it's true. If you play any sports, this is the workout for you!
Plyometrics is jump training. Tony takes you through a whole pile of different jumps. From a squat jump, to a twist combo (think of standing with your legs together holding ski poles, then twist your feet 45 degrees to the left, jump to have the face front, then jump to be 45 degrees to the right, now continue over and over back and further.) He has frog squats, where your legs are wide and you are in a low squat, then you leap forward. There are tires and Heisman jumps. There are leap jumps where you fly across the room. Then he has the rock star jump where you kick your legs back to hit your but as your arms swing around to stroke the guitar strings.
You continue to do each "jump" for 30 seconds, then you move on to the next. (There are a few you do for a minute.) I just have to ask, TONY- WHERE DID YOU LEARN TO JUMP IN SO MANY WAYS? As my heart pounds and my calves and thighs burn from all the jumps, lunges,... I just can not stop thinking - this definitely is the mother of all workouts!
There is no way after doing this for a few weeks you could not see improvements in any outside sport activity. You jump in basketball, you twist your body and jump the hills in skiing, you squat and jump up to catch balls in baseball. The tire type moves aid in coordination. The circle runs must help you control the ball in soccer! There are so many more examples, I could go on and on.
After an hour of pouring out sweat and doing every possible jump you can imagine, you stop and all of a sudden you are left with jello for legs. Oh yeah and the whole time you are pushing through each of the moves you are watching one of the guys in the video with a false leg doing everything! How can you be out done by a guy with 1 leg in a jump training workout!!!!!
At the end of the workout, one of Tony's famous quotes - "You love it, but you hate it" That's it exactly, I love the results I know this workout will give me, but boy do I hate it some days!
So, I get to cross off another well done day with an X for the "X". I love seeing my monthly calendar with more X's for done then no X and a day off.
Now that I completed my workout- Did you decide to BRING IT today?

That sounds so fun.. Yet, I can picture myself laying on the floor or getting tangled up.. lol.
Stacey
For me, it's more like laying on the floor trying to not DIE! Ha!
Tony really makes the X fun. I love the variety.
