About Me

My photo
A little about me. In my normal life, I am a civil engineer who sits behind a desk everyday. I got married to my wonderful husband in 2006. Since meeting him and our many days of eating out and less working out, my weight started to creep up. In August 2007 my girlfriend wanted to get back in shape after her pregnancy. She talked me into running weekly with her. I agreed, and this began my plan to get my body back in shape. I wanted to add some additional workouts to my run, so I pulled out my old Slim in 6 videos. At the same time, I re-found the online message boards at Beachbody where I meet a lot of great people who kept me committed to my fitness goals. I also found a great coach who was there everyday to help me stay on track! Today, I'm still working to sculpt my body and get it into the best shape ever. As I have progressed through my body's transition, I decided to become an Independent Beachbody Coach to help others reach their fitness goals! I realized it was easier then I thought, and I really believe others can change their lives too!

Can I be an Instructor?

Yesterday was a long day of sweating! It started at 9 am when I walked into a Turbo Kick training class to become an instructor! I want to lead my friends in group workouts, and being a Turbo Jam fan and a fan of Chalene Johnson, I thought - why not go for it and see if I can take and pass this class!

It's funny, I never took a real Turbo Kick class. I did sit in a few of Chalene's Turbo Fire classes, so I guess that is close? So, my only preparation for the class was my experience with Turbo Jam. But, I think it gave me enough background to take the instructor class.
The class was fun. It was a lot of good information on Turbo Kick and their classes. How to teach, from safety, forms, to cueing! But, it was the workouts that made the day!

We did some form work in the morning. Lots of ways to teach proper kicks, punches and learning the other fun moves that make Turbo Kick classes so fun! Then we did a master workout! That was at least an hour class with all these other instructors and gym members. A full blow, maximum intensity class! No holding back, so added jumps and burbees to make it as hard as possible for us! So, needless to say, by the end of the workout I was a dripping mess!

The day went on though, we had more class work, more form work. Then it was time for our testing. The written part wasn't too hard. Most of what was on the test was discussed during the day. The practical portion was hard after being tired all day, but overall it wasn't too bad. She was checking forms to see if what we learned during the day was being done properly. I'm sure she will send feedback on stuff that we need to fix! But, you really can't fail, just get a "nee more training". So, I'm hoping I can pass and that I passed the test! That will then allow me to actually teach the class!

So, the next question will be not- can I be an instructor? It's gonna be will and when will I be an instructor? I walked away with at least 12 different classes, that is a lot to practice and learn. As, I have a few weeks to get the final results on if I passed. But, in those weeks, I can practice practice practice to be the best I can be. Then when my results come back, if I want to teach I can! And, I just maybe holding workouts in the park or something? So, if you live near me, keep an eye open for fun stuff to come!

One more goal is now checked off my list! Pass or Fail, I went out of my comfort zone and took the class! Are you reaching your goals?

Before

After

Hi!  My name is Natalie Albert.  I am a 29 year old Floridian who is finally back in shape. I work full time as a meeting planner and I also love to cook, dine out and travel!

I have always been struggling with weight. I was an overweight kid and teenager, and unhappy. In college and after I had my highs and lows. I'd be motivated for a couple of months, then bored and giving up. In March of 2006 I went on a one month business trip, full of free meals & plenty of happy hours. I came back with no motivation as well as with my highest weight ever! I kept saying "my clothes shrank", instead of admitting the truth. The trigger for getting back into shape now was a picture of myself in a bikini, next to one of my friends. She looked amazing and I was left wondering what happened to me!

Soon after that, I bought Turbo Jam and my life changed! I really paid attention to what I ate and stuck to the amazing workout calendars in Turbo Jam, Slim in 6, and Slim Series. After I completed all these and reached by goal, I decided to try the gym again. But that's when I started noticing myself slack off. I realized how much I missed Beachbody! Now I'm on to Chalene Extreme and SO excited for the Journey.

I became a coach to help motivate and inspire others. I love what Beachbody did for me and now I want to pass it on. If you are looking for someone to help you in your journey to your best body ever, I would be honored to help you. As your coach, I will be there every step along your path. I will push you when you need a little extra kick to get moving. I will offer that support when you feel you just can't go another day. You can depend on me for support!

CURRENT WORKOUT:  I'm on to ChaLEAN Extreme!  It's an intense and enjoyable workout.  Chalene is an amazing motivator.  Check out my blog (fitfoodie) to read all about my journey.

Together we are stronger

I want this post to go out to all my ladies on the Turbo Jam thread!

This is a group currently all ladies, but we welcome any men to join us, who are doing a mix of programs including Turbo Jam, Chalean Extreme, P90X,...  And, they are supporting each other everyday.  This group is going strong on the 100 point challenge.  The combination of coming on the message boards for groups support and taking part in the challenge is definitely working for them!  I see them commenting everyday how they are losing weight, their cloths are fitting a little more loosely, and each day getting one step closer to their goals.

So, I am posting this as a shout out to all my peeps!  It's amazing how the group support and stopping in daily and checking in can really keep you motivated and help you reach your goals!  I've said this over and over, before I became a coach, I had my home.  I would visit the message boards everyday.  I had many days I did not want to push play, but my virtual friends encouraged me to do so.  They kept pushing me to go a little harder, eat a little cleaner.  If it wasn't for those people, I know I would have quit a long time ago.  Now, I'm a coach.  I have my home in Turbo Jam land and a second home in P90X world.   All my new friends are just as supportive and encouraging!

I have been a coach for almost a year now, and am seeing a lot of my same coachees on the message boards.  Those that are sticking around and getting the greatest results are the ones who stop by fairly regularly.

I encourage each and everyone one of you to join us on the message boards.  Any group is a bunch of great people.  They all have goals, and their goals may be similar to yours!  Also, its amazing the tips and information that can be shared.  Sometimes the little things we learn along the way, we talk about.  We share our ups and downs.  When you realize you are not alone in the journey, you will realize you can reach your goals.

So, please stop by.  It's a quick sign up, free to pop in.  And, we love newbies, so don't be afraid to post and just say hi.  But, keep coming back and one day you too will be chatting it up and helping other newbies!

Now, I'll see ya at Why Wait to Achieve your Goals or the Second Floor!

To get your screen name, just complete this form.

Various Turbo Jam Rotations

I've been asked to help pick a new rotation for Turbo Jam that mixes things up.  I pulled a few different rotations from various people on the message boards and want to share them here for everyone.  I want to point out the the options are really endless!  And, if you don't have a video, pick on that you do to replace it.  Sorry if this posts gets long, but it's to show you different options!

Would you like to order any of these Turbo Jam Videos, or ChaLean Extreme?  Simply click here!

This one is placed by the Fitness Advisor.  Also, take a minute to read his comments.  Note:'Fat Zapper' is Fat Blaster. ADVANCED DVD ROTATION:  The number one question I've been asked lately is what does an advanced workout rotation look like that incorporates the new DVD's for Turbo Jam.  First, let me say that everyone is different and the best DVD's are the ones that you'll push yourself the hardest. There is no replacement for exercise intensity. This is not an intermediate rotation. This is a very advanced workout rotation.  I'm a big believer that your workouts shouldn't interfer with family-time, or in the alternative, should include family! Therefore, this rotation, which builds upto two DVD's per day, it may require that you split up your workouts.... one while everyone sleeps (i.e. early am or late evening) and the other at your regularly scheduled workout time. If you are really commited to get unbelievable results...this WILL DO IT, but it does require building up to it! Can you say, "bathing suit season"?  Lastly, listen to your body. If you're feeling overly fatigued, sore to the touch, run-down, uninspired, cranky AFTER your workout, these are signs that you may be training too hard.  These are suggestions. Feel free to replace a similar length cardio or plug in a different strength training DVD. Get ready for results!

What are the different Turbo Jam Workouts?

One of my coachees seems to be in love with Turbo Jam and is getting results from it!  Whoo hoo!  Plus, she said the program is fun and it keeps her moving and groovin!  Isn't that working out is supposed to be about, having a little fun?  Ok, so we need to work hard to get our results, but really with TJ you can work hard and get results will having some fun!

I was asked what some of the different programs are.  So, I thought I would give a quick summary.  These are the workouts I have, I know there are some workouts with the balls, I'm sorry I don't have these at this time to chat about in real details.  I hear the ball ones are great for the core!

Most of you that buy any TJ programs, probably started with the Maximum Results program.  This program comes with 6 workouts and the weighted gloves.  You also get the program book with rotations, meal guides including the lean jean program, and the package with the elite 11 moves.  All great for you to get started.

The programs in the Maximum Result package are:
Learn and Burn - a 30 minute workout that really teaches you the basic moves of TJ!  Its a great starter workout.  Plus, when you get to the burn section, you get a great 15 min. core workout!

20 minute workout - This is a 20 minute workout.  Again, a good starter workout.  Also great to mix and max with other programs!  This is a high energy cardio workout with some really fun music.

Turbo Sculpt  - This workout is 40 minutes.  Its goal is to tighten and tone your muscles with Chalene's signature moves.  It works the abs, glutes, arms and legs.  Don't worry, you still get your groove on, and we all need resistance in our workouts to get those nice lean and toned looks we want.

Cardio Party 1 - This is a 45 minute, mainly cardio workout!  Its goal is to burn fat while sculpting your body from head to toe.  Its high energy, great music, a ton of fun!  I always walk away and feel it in my abs!  She really makes this workout fun w/ her own mix of music, you can't not feel like you are at the party!

Ab Jam - This is 2 great workouts in one.  The whole workout is 20 minutes.  But, its broken down to 2 sections of ab work.  One 10 minute standing section and one 10 minute floor work.  Its a great workout to add in to get those toned abs!  If you are short on time, do just one of the 2 sections, have more time- why not go for both and get a full 20 minutes in!

Punch, Kick and Jam - one of my favorites in the beginner section.  Its more resistance based to me, in the fact that its really focuses on punches and kicks.  And if you go low in the 'squats' with the twists during the kicks and punch, you can get a great workout!  Its about form, so really concentrate.  This workout is about 50 minutes.  Its like a kickboxing, dance, martial arts workout all to Chalene's high energy music!  Its a great cardio workout mixed in with the sculpting!  So, its a great all round program.  Add the gloves for a bonus intensity!

The next series I bought were the Live Program.  I have 2 of Chalene's live videos.
Trubo Jam Live  Booty Sculpt + Abs.  This is a 30 minute workout.  You are right in her studio with her regular customers.  This workout makes you feel like you are at one of her classes.  And, I bet you guessed it, this workout focuses on the booty and abs!  You should have some hand weights and I think the green turbo band to increase the intensity with this program.  Weights would depend on your ability, but I think anything under 10 lbs would be fine.

Turbo Jam Live - Cardio Party Remix - This is a 30 minute workout.  Again, similar to the other live workout, this one is right in her studio.  So be prepared to get to business.  This reminds me of Cardio Party 1 with different music and different moves.   This is a great cardio workout with her high energy, fun music where you continue to bust the move!  But, its short so Chalene gets to the point quickly!  Trust me, you will not be walking away from this feeling like you need more.  But, if you do, pop in some ab jam and you have a great 50 minute workout!

Some of the other Turbo Jam workouts I have include.
3T  Totally Tubular Turbo! - A 35 minute resistance based workout.  Here she uses resistance bands and turbo tube band to totally increase the intensity!  This workout will tone your arms, flatten your abs, sculpt your legs and give you a firmer booty!  Its a great addition to some of your cardio workouts!

Fat Blaster  - Another one of my favorites!  This is a quick 30 minute workout that will leave you dripping with sweat!  This is an interval training program.  She takes you through 4 fast turbos!  All with 4 slow turbos between them!  Interval training is a great addition to any workout to really help keep the body guessing!  With this high intensity cardio workout, you will blast the fat!

Lower Body Jam - Another 30 minute workout.  This one is more on the resistance side again.  Another great addition to your cardio workouts.  This one uses the resistance turbo band and some free weights to really sculpt the thighs, hips and butt!  Again, we all need resistance workouts to firm our problems areas, so a great addition to the turbo jam cardio workouts!

Cardio Party Mix 2 and Mix 3 - Mix 2 is about 44 minutes, mix 3 is about 50 minutes.  If you liked Cardio Party 1, you will love these 2. They are similar to Cardio Party 1 with new moves and new calorie blasting music!  These are new high-energy workouts to keep you motivated!

Mix 3 Chalene has her gloves on to up her intensity!  This helps you really tone those arms.  Trust me, with CP2 and 3 you can not help but work your abs!

With all the different Turbo Jam workouts, you really can't lose motivation.  The one thing I disliked at first was that these workouts were "shorter" in length then I wanted.  Meaning, I wanted to really blast an hour of a workout and most of these fall short.  For those who are short on time, there are plenty of Turbo Jam workouts that are a half hour long!  For those of you like me who seem to want more, then I say double up!  Do 20 minutes with ab jam.  Or do booty sculpt with one of the live cardio party!  The possibilities to mix and match them are endless!  And when you have a 45 minute workout with a 20 minute ab workout, you have a perfect 1 hour workout.  So, I no longer complain how short they are!  I just mix and match them to get a total over all body workout!

Now, I hope my quick summary of the different workouts helped answer some questions.  If you are looking for more details or if you are ready to order your set, please click here.  This link will provide you with video clips of some of the Turbo Jam workouts.  So, take a minute and check them out for yourself!  See if you can not smile when you here her mix of music!

A Little Cardio Party!

Today I was supposed to do one of the arm workouts for P90X, but I really needed a change!  My calves are still screaming and hate when I stop moving for a bit.  They just are not happy with me from my legs workout on Friday!  I guess adding 8 lbs to calf raises was a little to much.  I felt the burn and pushed through, just that probably should have been one of those- listen to your body moments.

Well, I was having a hard time convincing myself to really bring it with a good resistance workout when I was still sore from days ago!  Yes, sometimes working out other body parts (like arms) will not affect my sore legs,  but its still hard to push play with another workout to bring soreness.  So, instead of doing nothing or lacking the motivation!   I decided to do something fun!  I put in Cardio Party 3 with Turbo Jam!  I also decided since I was supposed to be doing arms I would add the weighted gloves!  I have to say, it was sooo fun!  I loved the variety!  I loved adding a little spark to my P90X workout!  Chalene never stops amazing me with how great a workout she offers.  I did all of Cardio Party 3.  I'm honestly glad I was in my own living room and not in the class.  Not having done the workout in a while, I was ummm, just a bit off pace with the group.  So, if I was there I would be the girl facing the wrong way, punching or kicking my neighbor,...  But, in my living room, just me- its all about having fun!  I had slightly lower intensity then when I do TJ on a regular basis, but I have to say- if the sweat drip factor is proof of a good workout, then the wet carpet says I got an A for the day!  I also tend to forget how much ab and leg work are in TJ!  But, it seemed to help stretch my poor calf muscles, because they are not screaming at me now!

I want to bring this up, sometimes we may not be motivated to do our scheduled workout.  But, its ok to add a little variety!  Pick something you want to do, something that will push you, maybe you need a lighter day, so pick a lighter workout!  Maybe you need variety to add more fire and spark to your program!  Just do as the Nike commercial says- JUST DO IT!    Push play and do something!  When you change it up, it also keeps your body guessing, so really, how can you go wrong!

Now, as I site here smiling from a good workout I have to wonder, will I need another day of TJ to really get myself in a mood, or will it e back to my high intensity X workout tomorrow?  I guess I will have to wait and see.  If I need to struggle between not pushing play or having a little Turbo Jam fun, them I will definitely choose TJ!

I know my mind has been thinking of Chalene ever since I placed my ChaLean Extreme order.  I'm happy with my decision to mix it up and throw in some fun!  Now it just adds more thoughts of how fun this new program is going to be!  December can not come quick enough for my package to arrive!

Remember, if you want to learn more about or to order Turbo Jam, just click here!  If you want to ask me any questions about the programs, drop me an email at HeatherB@BeachbodyCoach.com!

A little more about the different programs

I decided to take a night off from posting, but I found this video I thought would be nice to share.  It's a little overview of some of the Beachbody products.  Some of these are real cuts from the makings of the videos.  Also in the video are real before and after shots of people.

Please enjoy the video.

Also, for those interested in hearing some of the music or more about a certain workout, at the bottom of my blog is a link to some of the different programs.  There you can learn more about the program and hear some of the music on the videos.  Use these little introductions to help you decide which program is best for you.

As always, I am hear to answer specific questions you might have.  Just drop me an email at

WHYWAIT08@GMAIL.COM

Have a good night, and I'll be back tomorrow.

SOME DAYS

There are just those days when you don't want to work out.  I know, today was one of them.  It was a nice relaxing weekend.  It's a tough Monday.  Plus, yesterday was my rest day.  My husband is sick and laying around.  All this, just makes it one of those days that is so hard to want to workout.

But, I know I have to do it.  I struggle with the thought of pushing play or the idea of making an excuse not to.

I go to the message boards and talk to all the people there.  I hear them all say, I did it, I pushed play.  I then here over and over how the pounds are starting to fall off.  Each one of these stories, kept me going trough my head saying- see, they did it, now so can you!  You want to achieve your goals, don't you.  So, just get up and go do it, stop trying to make excuses not to workout, just do it!

Today was supposed to be Yoga X, another reason I was delaying the workout.  Yoga, really is not one of my favorites.  But, after talking to myself over and over that I could not leave my good thread friends down, I made a compromise to myself.  I would not do yoga, but I would put in one of my favorites for a day when I lack the desire to push play.  Tonight would be Turbo Jam, Cardio Party 3.  That was all I needed, I put in the video, I pushed play and I had a ton more energy then I thought.  I got nice and low on the stances, I used power in the punches, and I kicked as high as I could.  I finally showed up, so I was really gonna do my best and Bring It!

After it was all said and done, I felt great.  My mind was clear from the stresses of the day.  I had more energy to finish my evening.  My earlier excuses were no longer even imaginable.

The moral of my story, we all have days were we struggle.  But, if you just decide to do it, you may be surprised that once you start you will be glad you did and the end result will be so much more rewarding then if you talked yourself into that excuse!  So- DID YOU DECIDE TO BRING IT TODAY?

Fat Blaster

Tonight I decided to take a break from my P90X workout and decided to Turbo Jam's Fat Blaster.  This is a quick half hour workout.  It's based on interval training.  I hear that including interval training in your daily workout routine really is a great way to kick up the fat burning in your body.  Quickly, interval training is where you go at a low intensity for a short period, then you increase the workout to a high intensity.  You continue the low intensity/high intensity switch for about 20 minutes.  This method of training can be done in running, swimming,...
Chalene uses her "Turbos" to take you through 4 rotations of high intensity workouts.  Before you do each blast at high speed you do the routine at low intensity to learn it.  But, when she kicks it up a notch, she really kicks it.  She is doing kicks and punches in all her jumps, she is going low in the squats to add more intensity.  She just has so much energy, you just want to go go go with her.  Then, within no time, it's time to lower your heart rate and catch your breath for a minute so your body can prepare itself for her next big blast!
I love Turbo Jam.  I really always find it fun.  I continue to go back to Turbo Jam as a great way to get a workout in when I don't really want to workout.  Chalene adds a little fun by shackin her booty.  Even during resistance work, she manages to bust a move.  All her energy and fun just make me want to come back for more.  Also, knowing that half way through Fat Blaster, I was dripping wet!  My legs were burning, my arms were tired.  As I mentioned a few days ago, I focused on my abs, so my abs were feeling the moves.  I love it!
Fat Blaster will always be scheduled in my rotations!  I also enjoy a lot of the shorter TJ videos on days where I just want a little more.  When I feel like I have a little extra energy, I can pop in one of the half hour videos and know I will be tired in the end!
So, for anyone who is looking for something with a little fun, energy and great cast of people- look into Turbo Jam.  It takes a few times to learn the moves, but once you get it- You will be having a party!
